 Welcome to the University of Minnesota Medical School, where our discoveries are advancing health. At our Medical School, we define excellence not as a place to stand still, but rather as the goal of our ongoing efforts. Our environment encourages innovations – discoveries that advance biomedical knowledge, advances in patient care, and improvements in education. - Diabetes researchers seek promising avenues of treatments for those suffering from type 1 diabetes – from new sources of islet cells to stem cells.

Our thriving Medical School community includes more than 920 medical students and more than 800 residents and fellows, along with 1,600 Medical School faculty physicians and scientists. At the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview, and the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital, our primary clinical affiliates, we offer outstanding care for patients. We are integrating clinical partners with our outstanding faculty, developing state-of-the-art facilities for biomedical scientists, and, with the help of community practitioners and health-care teams, preparing our medical students, residents, and fellows.
