Outreach Activities of the Program in Human Anatomy Education
Mini Medical School
The Program in Human Anatomy Education has participated in the Mini Medical curriculum since its initiation with a session of gross anatomy during the opening night lecture. In addition to the lecture portion given by Ken Roberts we give a mini anatomy lab session at the intermission with the help of David Lee and Tony Weinhaus. The lab stations are staffed with medical and other health professional students. Visit the Mini Medical School website for further information.
Mini Mini Medical School The Anatomy Program has worked with the Academic Health Center’s (AHC) Office of Communications Kenyon to present short sessions on human gross anatomy to groups of strategic interest to the AHC (i.e. congressional staffers and other policy makers, healthcare provider groups, etc). Several of these sessions are held each year. The purpose of these sessions is to give the visitors a feel for how medical education is conducted and some of what the students are exposed to in medical school. The session includes a short lecture by Dr. Roberts, followed by a short hands-on session investigating real human anatomy with Dr. Weinhaus and Mr. Lee.
State Fair AHC Booth The Anatomy Program represents the AHC one day each year at the State Fair. This event is staffed by Drs. Roberts and Weinhaus with the help of several medical students.
Minnesota Heart Fair
The Anatomy Program has sponsored a booth at this event each spring to augment educational efforts on heart health. This event is staffed by Drs. Roberts and Weinhaus with the help of several medical students. |
