Research Interests and Current Research

Our interest is to identify the biological function of risk loci that are associated with cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Our laboratory incorporates genome-wide association data, clinical studies, tissue-specific gene expression from banked genotyped human specimens, and data from model organisms and cells. We are currently focused on identifying the biological function of a mutation in the gene TCF7L2 that increases risk for type 2 diabetes.
