ANGEL WINGS® DASTM TRANSCATHETER ASD OCCLUDER for Atrial Septal Defect

Atrial Septal Defect is a condition that results in an opening in the septum between the right and left atria of the heart.

ANGEL WINGS® is primarily for the treatment of the following types of ASD:

Secundum Atrial Septal Defect (ASD):  This is a congenital defect in which the two walls of the septum do not grow together, leaving an opening between the right and left atria.

Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO):  A patent foramen ovale is a prenatal interatrial valve which the walls of the septum overlap.

Sometimes, after birth, this valve fails to close permanently.  The flap may open under straining efforts, such as coughing.  Many PFOs remain undetected and asymptomatic until later in life.
