Center for Diabetes Research rotating photos
To enhance opportunities for diabetes research at the University of Minnesota by facilitating cross-disciplinary scientific discussion, supporting study of new ideas, fostering development of new investigators, and expanding overall base of diabetes investigation.

Vision 

The vision of the Center for Diabetes Research is to improve the life of all people with diabetes through world-class investigation performed at the University of Minnesota into the prevention, cure, and management of diabetes and its complications.

Goals

1.      Establish a registry of diabetes investigators at the University of Minnesota.

2.      Develop effective mechanisms through which diabetes researchers at the University of Minnesota may communicate with each other.

3.      Support the exploration of new ideas in diabetes research through a small grants program.

4.      Foster the development of new investigators through a travel grant program.

5.      Obtain external funding to support new multidisciplinary investigation and ongoing Center activities.

6.      Develop relationships with community leaders interested in diabetes investigation to increase public support for Center programs.
