The Center for Health Equity encourages the community to be a partner in minority health and health equity research by collaborating with community organizations, and supporting important health initiatives through several community programs. Stairstep Foundation and WellShare International are two examples of CHE partners. Through our partnership with Stairstep Foundation, the Center for Health Equity has supported implementation of the evidence based program, Body and Soul at several predominantly African American churches in the Twin Cities. Body and Soul is aimed at increasing fruit and vegetable intake among church parishioners. Our partnership with Wellshare International has been focused on developing youth outreach and smoking cessation programs for the Somali community in the Twin Cities.
CHE also occupies space at the Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC) in North Minneapolis, a Center that links the University of Minnesota in partnership with urban communities.
Connect with the University
The Center for Health Equity invites community organizations to connect with researchers at the University of Minnesota through the Community Dialogue Series, a community engagement vehicle for University investigators to receive input from communities and keep communities engaged in the activities of the center.
Other Partnerships and Activities
The Center for Health Equity engages in additional community collaborations to enhance our promotion of health equity. We have established relationships with organizations working to support health equity for, Latino(a)'s, the LGBT community, and youth in North Minneapolis affected by community violence.
Looking to Connect
We are always looking to connect with community organizations interested in collaborating to achieve health equity. If you are interested in connecting with CHE to discuss a possible collaboration, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
