Research
The Research Core promotes research focused on health disparities and minority health at the University of Minnesota with our Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area partners and provides an integrative “home base” for this work. The research core has four primary aims: - Facilitate development of new research projects that address minority health concerns and health disparities.
- Develop and nurture a collaborative, integrative, and translational research model focused on minority health and health disparities
- Oversee an independent research project
- Disseminate research findings to scientific audiences and to lay audiences, particularly the communities that stand to benefit most from the study findings
Current Projects The center sponsors a smoking cessation research project led by Janet Thomas, Ph.D., and her faculty investigative team: Jasjit S. Ahluwalia, M.D., M.P.H., Larry An, MD, (now at UMich), Deborah Hennrikus, Ph.D., Xianghua Luo, Ph.D. and David Wetter, PhD of MD Anderson Cancer Center.
