Works in Progress

Works in Progress is a monthly seminar series devoted to discussing minority health and health disparities research topics. The purpose of these seminars is to give researchers a forum to freely discuss their research while still in the developing or formative phases in order to exchange ideas, obtain constructive feedback, and discuss issues that may be common to various projects (e.g., study design issues, recruitment strategies). The goal is to provide an opportunity for researchers with differing backgrounds and expertise but a shared passion for reducing health disparities to sit together and discuss their work.

Works in Progress is sponsored by the University of Minnesota Center for Health Equity (CHE) and hosted by the CHE Research Core. To present your research project or idea at a future seminar, please contact Amy Parker at 612-626-6796 or park0607@umn.edu

Building Bridges

Building Bridges is designed to foster interaction and collaboration between academic units at the University of Minnesota. The goals of this program are to bring together University faculty from diverse disciplines to meet and learn about potentially overlapping interests in minority health and health disparities, and to create new collaborative teams representing multi- and trans- disciplinary approaches to scientific questions.

CHE Research Rounds (CHERR)

The CHE Research Rounds are monthly seminars that provide an opportunity to inform investigators, clinicians, and community engagement partners alike on current health disparities topics and research. A secondary goal of CHERR is to draw together University faculty from diverse disciplines to meet and learn about potentially overlapping interests.  These monthly visits will also serve as a visible marker of the culture change underway at the University that celebrates diversity, and participates in national efforts for health equity and social justice.

Distinguished Visiting Scholar Series (DVSS)

The Distinguished Visiting Scholar Series invites a leader in health disparities research to the University. As part of the visit, the scholar presents lectures, networks with university faculty, fellows, and students, and visits community organizations. The aim of this series is to encourage collaboration with external academics, advance ideas, cross-pollinate, and promote the continued education of university faculty, fellows, students, and community partners in external research. This series is sponsored in partnership with the Medical School's Program in Health Disparities Research, Center for Health Equity, School of Public Health's Health Disparities Work Group, and the Office for Public Engagement.
