Pulmonary Fibrosis and Scleroderma Education Day
On Saturday, October 27, 07 more than 200 people gathered together at the University of Minnesota McNamara Alumni Center to learn more about pulmonary fibrosis and scleroderma from experts in the field. The event was hosted by the Center for Lung Science and Health in collaboration with the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis and the Scleroderma Foundation.
The featured speaker, Dr. Ganesh Raghu from the University of Washington presented the latest information on genetic and environmental components of pulmonary fibrosis (disease characterized by scarring of lung tissue). Senator Coleman also spoke at the event and accepted an achnowledgement award for his role in passing recent legislation to create awareness about idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and the need for more research.

Dr. David Ingbar, Executive Director for the Center for Lung Science and Health, is serving as the current President of the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the largest professional society in the world dedicated to lung health and disease.
The upcoming 2008 International ATS Conference is being held in Toronto this May. Many of our investigators will be presenting their new research findings at this meeting. Information about the presentations to be given will be posted on our Website prior to the meeting.
