  • National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) A branch of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) which provides major funding for related research.  The NHLBI Information Center has a telephone information service at 301-251-1222 to answer a variety of health-related questions including high blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking,asthma, heart disease, obesity, sleep apnea and insomnia.
  • Fairview Healh Library: Lung Problems and Procedures Contains information regarding various lung problems and diseases, tests and therapies, including using oxygen at home.
  • National Jewish Medical and Research Center Provides lung-related information on pulmonary, allergic and immune disorders
  • NHLBI Lab e-Notes A newsletter which highlights research supported by the NHLBI and the latest advances in heart, lung, blood and sleep research

Health Statistics

  • NHLBI Morbidity and Mortality Chart Book Provides compilation of data on a biennial basis on the size and trends of morbidity and mortality from the cardiovascular, lung and blood diseases.  Most of the prevalence, hospitalizations, and mortality statistics data is at the national level but some state data is also provided. 
  • CDC National Center for Health Statistics Nation's principal health statistics agency.  Contains stats on a variety of topics, publications and reports, FASTSTATS A to Z, and a death certificate locator and other health-related information
