An Evening with Swami Veda Bharati on July 22, 2009
"Meditation: The Deeper Dimension of Yoga"
in the Mayo Memorial Auditorium from 4:40 - 6:30 pm

This free, summer event introduces participants to the relationship between yoga and meditation. Venerated yogi Swami Veda Bharati will travel from Sadhaka Grama Ashram in India to share his teachings with the Minnesota community. A life-long practitioner, Swami Veda believes: "The ultimate aim of yoga is the total transformation of humanity into beings of pure divine energy." The Swami Veda event is part of two Center courses: "Yoga, Ethics, Spirituality, and Healing" (CSpH 5317) and "Tibetan Medicine, Ayurveda, and Yoga in India" (CSpH 5318) but instructor Dr. Miriam Cameron is opening these classes to the general community for this special one-night event. Please call 612-624-9459 to reserve your space. To see a flyer for this special event, click here.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)csh_mbsr_stones
Summer Programs

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is about taking control of our lives, being aware of influences that affect our well-being and health, and finding peace of mind and balance in an oftentimes chaotic world. MBSR will teach you to consciously and methodically deal with stress, pain, illness, and the demanding challenges of everyday life. To sign up for one of our summer programs beginning in July, click here. Read USA Today's coverage of Mindfulness' "colossal shift in acceptance" and use in hospitals and schools here.

New Taking Charge of Your Health website now live! Taking Charge of Your Health

Our new and improved website offering free advice, healthcare tips, and resources for consumers, is now live and helping people "take charge" of their health and well-being. Created in partnership with the Life Science Foundation, Taking Charge of Your Health invites visitors to expand their options with complementary and alternative therapies; become more informed and involved healthcare consumers; and care for overall body, mind, and spirit. The site provides information and tools for individuals to: (1) create a healthy lifestyle; (2) navigate the healthcare system; and (3) explore integrative therapies and healing practices.
