Family, friends and colleagues of Drs. John Thomas and Arne Vainio are invited to our Duluth Campus for an evening of applause, shared stories, hors d’oeuvres and refreshments, to celebrate these men and their awards.

Harold S. Diehl Lifetime Achievement Award
Dr. Thomas is one of the Duluth Legends and Leaders who helped establish our medical school in Duluth.

Arne Vainio, M.D.
Early Distinguished Career Award
Dr. Vainio, Class of ’94, is the first Duluth alumnus and first Native American alumnus to receive a Medical Alumni Society award.

A Special Opportunity
With this event, we kickoff our 40th anniversary year celebration. In 1969, legislators passed the funding that began our school. In honor of the many physicians, community leaders, administrators, philanthropists and legislators who advocated for our school, we have commissioned a Wall of Honor which will be unveiled this fall at a special event. In addition we have established a very special scholarship to support our students: The Duluth Medical Legends and Leaders Scholarship. If you would like to honor Drs.
