Jeffrey Gilbert, Ph.D.
Jeffrey Gilbert, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, joined the University of Minnesota Medical School–Duluth Campus in 2008. Previously, he held positions in the Department of Physiology and the Center for Excellence in Cardiovascular-Renal Research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Besides the research described in this story, Gilbert is collaborating with researchers around the country to find out what causes pre-eclampsia and how it can be treated or prevented and why formerly pre-eclamptic women have an increased incidence of cardiovascular disease as they age.

Anne Gingery, Ph.D.
Anne Gingery, Ph.D., joined the Medical School–Duluth Campus in 2007. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics at the University of Minnesota, where she worked with Merry Jo Oursler, Ph.D., of the Mayo Clinic. Gingery has won numerous research awards, including the Annette L. Boman Women's Fellowship for Cancer Research, the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research–Invited Speaker Award, and the Society for Experimental Biology–Young Investigator Award. Her research is concerned with bone metabolism, breast cancer metastasis to bone, stem cell–targeted chemotherapeutics, and the protective effects of breast cancer in formerly pre-eclamptic women.
