Director's Message
This is a very exciting time for us at the CRMHS at the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth. The Center continues to provide health professionals from many disciplines an academic, physical and social "place" to study and improve the treatment of mental health problems, especially as these are related to our rural and small community populations.
The CRMHS will continue to concentrate the efforts of many people and groups and, through the synergy already dynamically exhibited in the CRMHS work, serve to multiply each of our efforts to attain the common goals of the group: to better understand the factors contributing to mental problems in rural and frontier areas and the barriers to effective treatment of these problems.
We continue to seek and receive funding for studies at the State and local levels. Private and corporate contributions are always welcomed, of course. Studies of complex entities such as determinants of mental and behavioral problems are costly and take a dedicated and professional staff. These studies are greatly needed an must be done to better serve the people of the State and region.
There are many challenges ahead for us, but we are confident that we are getting started in the right direction We will make a difference!
