Students: The School of Medicine – Duluth’s Charter Class of 23 graduated in 1976. Entry class size today is more than double. In 2006, 56 medical students entered.
Alumni: More than 1,264 alumni began their medical education at the Medical School, Duluth campus. About 4 percent of the nation's doctors practice in rural areas. Of those who trained at the Medical School-Duluth, 47 percent practice in communities smaller than 20,000 people, and 62 percent practice in communities smaller than 50,000 people.
Compared to 10 percent of physicians nationally, 51 percent of all Medical School-Duluth graduates enter family medicine residencies.

Faculty and Staff: Medical School, Duluth has a faculty size of 35 professors, most of whom also serve as the school’s associate deans and administrative department heads. Total full-time and part-time faculty and support staff (administrative and research) fluctuates. In 2006 it numbered approximately 95. All of the faculty conduct research. Nearly 300 Minnesota physicians augment core staff as part-time faculty as community faculty or preceptors, faculty in local hospitals and clinics who work with medical students.
