The Cathy and Rick Ziegler Endowed Scholarship for Student Recruitment

Rick and Cathy Ziegler

Click here for the Rick Ziegler Story in the MMF Medical Bulletin.

Rick Ziegler was the leading face and voice of our mission for 10 years as dean and 26 years as a professor of microbiology and immunology.    During that time, Cathy, his beloved wife, shared his life’s work with her support and enthusiasm.  Sadly, Cathy died from cancer.

His tenure as Dean may have ended, but Rick’s passion for this school and its students is unquenchable. As a tribute to his late wife and a lasting legacy for the school, Rick in his estate has created an endowed scholarship to attract the best and the brightest students and, therefore, improve the quality of healthcare in Minnesota, the nation and the world.

Our goal is to raise a minimum of $100,000 in Rick and Cathy’s name so that Rick can see immediate tangible results of scholarship contributions that share his heart for educating and nurturing a new generation of students.   As of February, 2007 we’ve reached $53,000 which means that the fund’s “payout” will be matched by the university-wide President’s Scholarship Match – doubling the impact for today’s medical students. Your gift to the Cathy and Rick Ziegler Endowed Scholarship for Student Recruitment fund helps more students choose family practice.
