Edwin W. Haller Scholarship Fund
A Remarkable Teacher, Mentor, and World-Citizen
This fund will provide scholarships to new students with demonstrated financial need at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Preference will be given to students who begin their medical education in Duluth and renewal of past recipients. A plus factor is given to students of Native American descent who would enhance diversity at the University of Minnesota Medical School.

Remembering a Beloved Family Physician and Teacher
Dr. Lyle ‘Doc’ Munneke, 1934–2007
Dr. Lyle Munneke, 73, Willmar, died on Saturday, November 10, 2007, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minnesota. In addition to practicing family medicine, Dr. Munneke was preceptor in the University of Minnesota Medical School’s Rural Physician Associate Program (RPAP) from 1972 until his retirement in 2002 and a past president of the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians. The family has requested that memorials be sent to the Dr. Lyle Munneke Scholarship at the University of Minnesota Medical School–Duluth Campus. Read more…
Cathy and Rick Ziegler Endowed Scholarship for Student Recruitment
Richard Ziegler was the leading face and voice of the Duluth Campus for 10 years as dean and 26 years as professor of microbiology and immunology. Rick’s term as Dean ended in 2006 but his passion for the school is still alive and well.

An Endowment from the St. Mary’s Duluth Clinic Health System
One of the goals of the Medical School-Duluth is to translate research into medical cures. As a result of a generous gift of $1.2 million in 2002 from SMDC Health System (SMDC), the Medical School-Duluth, the Minnesota Medical Foundation and SMDC established the Duluth Clinic Chair in Molecular Medicine.
