Giving

Founders, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and organizations who give share a common goal: to make a difference in education that makes a difference in our health.  These are just some of the stories of those who gave to support the Duluth campus.  Call 218-726-6876 or e-mail Michelle Juntunen if you want to learn more about giving.

“These scholarships helped relieve some of my financial anxiety. I am extremely grateful for donors who made such an appreciated investment in my future.”  Mary Bassing, 2008 scholarship winner, with preceptor Dr. Peter Friedlieb at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital.

Duluth Medical Legends and Leaders Scholarship
Legends and leaders are our founders, faculty and staff – people who fought for a medical school in Duluth, shaped its beginnings, and rallied around our mission – people who inspired and educated our students from the very beginning and continue to do so today. By supporting this scholarship, we advance our students’ ability to succeed.  By supporting this scholarship, we also give in honor or memory of those trailblazers who shaped this medical campus.  Click here to contribute to this scholarship

Duluth Medical Alumni and Friends Scholarship
Are you someone who cares deeply about the future success of our school and students? Whether you are one of our 1400 alumni or a friend of our campus, we hope you will consider giving to this scholarship. Formerly called the UMD Scholarship, our alumni and friends have been contributing to this for many years. Help us maximize this legacy gift and keep replenishing its fund level.  You may also give in memory or honor of someone you knew – a favorite teacher, a classmate, or one of your own family members.  Make it meaningful.  Click here to contribute.

Nancy I. English, M.D., Memorial Scholarship
english_nancyNancy I. English, M.D., Class of ’92, died suddenly in August 2008 of natural causes. Her life was one of advocacy and personal giving. In her short 57 years, she made a major impact on the people and communities she served. As she was an avid runner, her husband and daughters, Tom, Hilary, and Emily, organized the first annual Nancy English Memorial 5KWalk/Run in November 2008. Contributions from the run combined with the family’s personal donations have created this endowed scholarship. We invite you to honor the memory of this Duluth-Campus alumna and dedicated Duluth physician by contributing to this scholarship by sending your check, made out to the Minnesota Medical Foundation, put “English Scholarship” in the memo line, and mailing it to the MMF-Duluth at 1035 University Drive #107, Duluth, MN 55812 or by giving online.    Click here for our online gift form.

He was among our Charter Faculty, a professor of pathology, and interim Dean. We watched as he traveled the globe to bring a new science to the world, Paleopathology: the study of mummies. With Mary and, as Art calls it, her “uncanny communications skills” at his side, Art has enjoyed an illustrious and inspiring career.  Read more about Art and Mary in our Duluth Campus Newsletter

Would you like to honor Dr. Art and Mary?  They have established the Mary L. and Arthur C. Aufderheide, M.D. Scholarship, and they invite your gift to this scholarship. Here’s how to give.
