Univeristy of Minnesota and the Medical School
The University was founded in 1851, seven years before Minnesota became the 32nd state. The Medical School and Fairview-University Hospital are on the banks of the Mississippi River and on the same campus as the undergraduate and other graduate schools. The Medical School has 667 academic faculty, 431 affiliated faculty, and 1,712 clinical community faculty. The Department of Medicine is comprised of 90 full-time faculty members and is highly ranked nationally in NIH-awarded grants. The Endocrinology and Diabetes Division is contained within the Department of Medicine.
