She also has an expertise in functional breathing problems, particularly in athletes, and she draws on her experience as a runner in treating these disorders.
Research
Dr. Michael currently has a number of research projects regarding the objective measurement of speaking and singing voice quality, most especially acoustic and perceptual evaluation of singing. Results of her studies are presented regularly at national and international conferences, most especially the Voice Foundation’s Annual Symposia on the Care of the Professional Voice, and the International Conferences on the Physiology and Acoustics of Singing.
