CME Credit for Adjunct Faculty

You may report a maximum of 20 Prescribed hours each year for teaching medical students, residents, physicians, physician assistant students, or nurse practitioner students. Teaching is also considered a group learning activity.

What is Prescribed credit?
To be eligible for Prescribed credit, a program must be designed for physicians with planning input from a family physician who is an Active or Life member of the AAFP. The program must have scientific/clinical content with direct bearing on patient care, on the delivery of patient care, or on the teaching, ethical, or social responsibilities of the family physician.

What are group learning activities?
A group learning activity is any scheduled program attended by two or more physicians.

To report teaching as CME, go to the Web site of the American Academy of Family Physicians and enter the CME area (you will need your AAFP identification number).

1.  Go to Reporting CME

2.  Go to Describe the Activity and then report it.

3.  Go to Individual Activities (this includes one-on-one teaching of medical students or  residents).

4.  Follow the directions and you're set!
