Visiting Medical Students

Family Medicine and Community Health electives are available to Years 3 and 4 medical students attending LCME-accredited medical schools in the United States. When you complete your FMCH elective course, we will reimburse your application fee of $150.

To register for an elective:

  1. Look at the Family Medicine elective courses below to see descriptions, dates, and sites.

  2. Go to Visiting Medical Scholar Program where you will see the University of Minnesota Medical School policies and procedures and the Medical Scholar application form, which must be completed by an official of your medical school. Send the application and fee of $150 to the address on the form. (Don't forget—FMCH will reimburse your $150 application fee when you complete the elective course.)

  3. Contact Judy Hillstrom immediately (612-624-0452, hills007@umn.edu) to discuss your site options and to let her know whether or not you will need housing.
