Sexual Health for the Millenium

Sexual Health for the Millennium developed by the World Association for Sexual Health

The World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) recently completed Sexual Health for the Millennium: A Declaration and Technical Document. The director of PHS, Eli Coleman, PhD, served as the project coordinator and the senior editor. The goal of this declaration and technical document is to align sexual health goals with the United Nation’s millennium development goals, making the case for sexual health as a critical part of human development. Ultimately WAS hopes to influence public policy and encourage leaders in government, education, healthcare, and even households, to address the sexual health of all individuals. Training sessions will be rolled out in four regions of the world maximizing the impact of this document and enabling it to influence public policy to promote sexual health. This effort was funded by the Ford Foundation. WAS is now in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO). Coleman currently serves as the WHO liaison officer and served as president of WAS from 2001-2005.
