Current Grants
NIH, “The electronic Primary Care Research Network (ePCRN)” This proposal will develop an electronic infrastructure that aids in the recruitment of subjects and the performance of randomized controlled trials in primary care practices, and that promotes the rapid integration of new research findings into primary care.
NIH through subcontract with Axio Research, “Atherothrombosis Intervention in Metabolic Syndrome” As a clinical center for the AIM-HIGH trial, we will conduct testing to determine whether the combination of niacin and simvastatin lowers the risk of heart attacks and strokes more than just taking simvastatin alone.
NIDDK, “Improving Diabetes Care by Primary Care Translation (IMPACT)” This group-randomized and controlled clinical trial of 24 primary care clinics evaluates a highly developed multi-faceted diabetes-specific intervention to evaluate more effective ways of improving diabetes care in primary care practice.
NHLBI and NIDDK, “Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD Trial)” Through the East Metro Diabetes Initiative clinical site, this is a randomized clinical trial to evaluate the effect of tight glycemic, blood pressure, and lipid control on cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in patients with diabetes.
