  • Selecting appropriate teaching strategies
  • Theories and latest findings on adult learning

Curriculum Design and Teaching Strategies for Medical Education II
Intersession
The is a follow-up to FMCH 5345 (see above) and addresses acquiring effective teaching strategies.

Topics include:

  • Clinical teaching
  • Computer-assisted instruction
  • Demonstrations
  • Distance learning
  • Lecturing
  • Small group discussions

Research

FPCH 5960 (3 credits)
Basic Research Methods in Family Medicine Seminar and Practicum
Fall Semester
This course is offered to department faculty and fellows.

Topics include:

  • History and current status of research in family medicine
  • Overview of department research services

And, how does one:

  • Ask and refine a research question
  • Conduct a literature search
  • Critically read medical literature and facilitate its discussion
  • Meet federal requirements for the protection of human subjects in research
  • Prepare a research grant proposal
  • Select an appropriate research methodology
