| Barry Weiss’s 2002 Family Medicine article describes an alarming decline in the research productivity of family medicine faculty. If not reversed, there is serious concern about the future viability of academic family medicine and the impact family medicine will be able to have on the shape of health care. Our fellowship was created to help meet this need.
We invite applications to a three-year fellowship that trains family physicians for careers in academic research. Although the focus is research, skills in education, communication, administration, and professional academics are also addressed to ensure our fellows' success in tenure track positions. Two fellows are accepted each year.
