Residents


Our three year residency program recruits six students each year for a total of 18 residents.
 
First-Year Residents

Daniel Dahl, MD
Dan grew up in Fargo, ND. He graduated from the University of North Dakota majoring in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis on health sciences and from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He enjoys playing basketball, running, lifting weights, tennis, and golf.

David Delaney Elsner, DO
David grew up in Ohio and Tennessee, went to college at the University of Colorado, and lived in Haiti for nine months. He attended the osteopathic medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and spent this past year as an intern in an OB/Gyn program in Ohio. David decided to make the switch to family medicine, so he and his wife, Monica, are moving to Minnesota. He enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and playing guitar.

Julie Farias, MD
Julie spent her youth in Windsor, California, and attended undergrad at Cornell University, earning a degree in biology with a concentration in genetics and minor in Latino studies. She participated in the UC Irvine School of Medicine post baccalaureate program for one year, and then headed to Iowa for medical school at University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. She enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including bicycling, hiking, and camping. When it is too cold to venture outdoors, she takes interest in attending performing or visual arts events. Julie loves spending time with her fiancé, Kelly.

Robyn Knutson Bueling, MD
Robyn grew up in Wahepton, North Dakota, and completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of North Dakota. After two years of working with elite figure skaters in Colorado, she returned to UND for medical school. Robyn enjoys anything active, particularly skating, bicycling, hiking and playing with her family at the park. She lives with her husband Clint, 2-1/2-year-old Lucas, and their shi tzu, Chewy.

Natalie Roeser, MD
Natalie grew up in Hutchinson, Minnesota, and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota, Morris. She went to medical school at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth. She enjoys running, figure skating, watching movies, playing with her two dogs, Jake and Elwood, and spending time with her husband Josh.

Ryan Williams, DO
Ryan grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, and attended Indiana University, where she majored in Germanic studies. She graduated from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006. She enjoys reading, writing, singing, reality TV, and spending time with family. She lives with her fiancé Aaron and three-year-old stepdaughter Natalie.
 
Second-Year Residents

Gregory Dukinfield, MD
Greg grew up in Plymouth, Minnesota, and attended St. John's University in Collegeville, graduating with a degree in biology. Greg attended the University of Minnesota Medical School. In his free time, Greg enjoys golfing, downhill skiing, camping, bicycling, and any other ways that he can spend more time with his wife, Maggie.

Stephanie Hunstad, MD
Stephanie grew up in Inwood, Iowa, and attended Iowa State University, majoring in nutritional science. She worked for one year as a food technologist for Well's Dairy and then attended medical school at the University of Iowa. She enjoys running, waterskiing, cooking, and spending time with family. She lives in St. Louis Park with her husband Josh, daughter Brooke, and son Clayton.

Janna Johanns, MD
Janna grew up in Kasson, Minnesota. She attended the University of St. Thomas for her undergraduate studies and graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School. Janna enjoys running, biking, and swimming.

Jason Kallestad, MD
Jason grew up in Hastings, Minnesota, and majored in chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Minnesota Duluth. He went to medical school at the University of Minnesota. He and his wife, Krissy, enjoy outdoor activities and recently purchased their first house in Richfield.

Sally Leitch, MD
Sally grew up in Spencer, Iowa and studied biology and Spanish at Wartburg College. She graduated from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Sally enjoys tennis, traveling, and spending time with her new husband Justin, who is a pediatrics intern at the University of Minnesota.

Seth Vogel, MD
Seth grew up in Orange City, Iowa, land of the tulip festival. He studied biology and theatre arts at Dordt College and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota Medical School. Seth enjoys reading, cooking, and sea kayaking. He lives in Blaine with his wife Maygann and their puppy.
Third-Year Residents

Samuel Asante-Buabeng, MD
Samuel graduated from the University of Science and Technology School of Medical Sciences, Kumasi, Ghana, and pursued postgraduate studies in anesthesia. After moving to the United States, he decided on a career in family medicine. He loves listening to gospel music and doing community service aimed at helping the underprivileged in society. He has a great passion for soccer. Samuel lives in Minneapolis with his wife Ella.

Julie DeJong, MD
Julie grew up in Montevideo, Minnesota. She studied zoology at North Dakota State University and is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School. Julie enjoys gardening, traveling, camping, running, and hiking, as well as spending time with family and friends. She and her husband, Travis, reside in Brooklyn Park.

Amanda McDonald, MD
Amanda grew up in Britt, Minnesota. She received her undergraduate degree from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. She remained in Duluth at the University of Minnesota Duluth for her first two years of medical school and then attended the University of Minnesota Twin Cities for the final two years. She enjoys spending time outdoors, especially at her cabin on Lake Vermilion, spending time with friends and family, traveling, and flying. She lives in Plymouth with her husband Phil.

Richard Mitchell, MD
Rick grew up in Braintree, Massachusetts. He studied chemistry at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and worked as an organic chemist before going to the University of Miami for a master’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology. He did prostate cancer research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester prior to going to medical school at the University of Minnesota. He enjoys too many hobbies including juggling, geocaching, canoeing, and playing the piano and harp.

Adam Syverson, MD
Adam spent his early years in Wanamingo, Minnesota. He attended Luther College to study biology and received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. His hobbies include reading novels by Stephen King, cooking for others, and watching movies. He is also a sports junkie.
Kristin Tapper, MD
Kristin grew up in Duluth, Minnesota. She studied French and chemistry at the College of St. Benedict. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School after spending her first two years of medical school at the Duluth campus. Kristin lives in Hopkins with her husband David and their spunky springer spaniel Daphne. She enjoys traveling, running, camping, fishing, and trying new foods and wines with her husband.
