Liver Transplantation

Dr. John Lake is the Medical Director of the Liver Transplantation Program at University of Minnesota Medical Center.   The program performs all types of liver transplants, including transplants from live donors, both for pediatric recipients from adults as well as adult-to-adult live donor transplants.  The program is also active in the splitting of livers to service two recipients.  The clinical results of the program have been excellent.  The program also plays an important role in transplantation leadership throughout the country.  Dr. William Payne, the Surgical Director of the Program, has served as President of United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS).  He and Dr. Lake both currently serve on the Board of UNOS.  In 1999, Dr. Lake served as President of the American Society of Transplantation.
