Biography
Karyn Baum, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota.  She currently practices General Internal Medicine in the inpatient setting.  Dr. Baum specializes in medical education and was recently awarded her Masters of Science in Education through the University of Southern California.  She is the course director for Physician and Society, a second year medical school course, and Advanced Clinical Teaching, a faculty development workshop for educators.  She works with organizations including the Institute for Healthcare Improvement on their Teaching Collaborative, examining and developing effective methods for educating students and residents on quality and safety.  She has published several educational articles and co-leads the Educational Component of the Minnesota Center of Excellence in Women’s Health.  She has spoken all over the United States and in several countries including Japan on medical education.  She grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan and received her medical degree from the University of Michigan.  Dr. Baum is the proud owner of both a Jack Russell Terrier and a Dachshund, and enjoys antiquing, traveling, and sitting by a lake.
