Her internship was completed at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center, followed by a post-doctoral medical psychology fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Solberg Nes is licensed as a clinical psychologist in the state of Minnesota. Clinical Interests Dr. Solberg Nes works with patients (outpatient and medical inpatient) faced with a wide variety of acute or chronic medical illnesses. She has specialized in working with cancer, transplantation (blood and marrow as well as solid organ), and chronic pain patients and their families. Other clinical interests include: coping with new medical diagnoses and ongoing treatment, chronic illness, physical illness and rehabilitation, adherence, stress management, effect of illness on family members and caregivers, and end of life or palliative care issues. Research Interests Dr. Solberg Nes’ research focuses on the psychological and physiological impact of self-regulation, that is, people’s ability to exercise control and guide or alter reactions and behavior. She is currently examining the psychological and physiological impact of self-regulatory deficits in cancer and chronic multi-symptom related illnesses. Other research interests include quality of life, coping, adherence, personality and individual difference, and health behaviors.
