The University of Minnesota Medical School is committed to graduate medical education, which emphasizes education and training of physicians to meet the healthcare needs of our region, advancement of knowledge, and leadership in the biomedical sciences and in academic medicine.

With this commitment, the University of Minnesota Medical School recognizes the necessity for adequate funding, facilities, support personnel, and faculty teaching time to be certain that every program under our institutional sponsorship offers the best possible training environment and educational opportunities.

Goals for Graduate Medical Education

Our goal is to provide the highest quality of graduate and post-graduate medical, professional and educational training to prepare physicians for the practice of speciality and/or subspecialty training, or for the pursuit of academic and research medicine.
