ECFMG Acculturation Program

ECFMG has created a link to their Acculturation Program on the ECFMG website as a resource for all International Medical Graduates (IMGs) to use as needed.  This program includes:

  • "Medicalese" - a glossary of commonly used terms particular to U.S. medical education and medical systems.
  • The One Dozen Most Important Things You May Not Have Known, Understood, or Realized About American Medicine - a series of modules, videos and discussion questions to help introduce IMGs to topics such as the doctor-patient relationship, the role of the patient's family, the U.S. health care team, U.S. GME system, and professionalism.
  • "The IMG Advisors Network" - a free service that allows qualified IMGs who will be coming to the United States from other countries to connect with advisors who can answer questions about working and living in the United States.

Please visit the ECFMG Acculturation Program website to learn more!
