Benefits: Life Insurance

Life insurance is provided, at no cost, to all trainees through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota - USAble Life.  This benefit is available to trainees only if no additional coverage is available through this plan.  The benefit amount is $50,000.

Forms to request a change of beneficiary may be obtained by calling the department residency/fellowship administrator.

When insurance is discontinued due to termination from the program you have the option to continue coverage for a period of up to eighteen (18) months after leaving a program through COBRA unless other conditions apply.  You will be required to pay your own premium plus a statutory administrative fee of 2% for the months you choose to extend your insurance.
