Visiting Residents & Fellows

Thank you for your interest in completing a rotation through one of our departments here at University of Minnesota. The University of Minnesota Graduate Medical Education Programs accepts visiting residents/fellows from ACGME-Accredited programs in the United States and Canada.

Visiting residents/fellows from outside of Minnesota who wish to spend elective time at the University of Minnesota must apply at least three Months in advance of the start of the rotation. Approval is at the discretion of the program director.

Visiting residents/fellows from one of the MMCGME affiliated sites (Regions, HCMC, ABNW, United) must contact the program they wish to rotate through to arrange your elective.  No additional paperwork needs to be filled out. Approval is at the discretion of the program director. 

·         Contact the appropriate coordinator of the program you wish to rotate through via our Program Directory

·         Complete all required paperwork and send back to the department well in advance of your start date

·         Check with your program to see if your liability insurance will cover you while rotating to the University of Minnesota. If they will not you will be required to purchase liability insurance and show proof of coverage prior to arriving. Coverage must be 1,000,000/3,000,000.
