Fellowship

We strongly encourage applications from minorities

Thank you for your interest in the Department of Medicine's Fellowship Training Program in Hematology and Medical Oncology for the years 2010 - 2013.

Our major goal is to train physicians for academic careers in Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation. The emphasis of the three-year program is on clinical training in all areas of Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation and the development of the necessary skills for an academic career through intensive training in basic or clinical research. The program is flexible, and we try to individualize training according to the needs and interests of the individual fellow. The training program leads to board eligibility in Hematology and Medical Oncology.

The clinical training is obtained on inpatient and outpatient services, the bone marrow transplant service, and the malignant hematology/oncology service at the University of Minnesota-Fairview Medical Center and the medical oncology and hematology consultation services at the affiliated hospitals which include the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Regions Hospital, and Hennepin County Medical Center. Clinical training is also obtained in continuity outpatient clinics.

The basic and clinical research in the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation provides diverse opportunities for experience in investigational treatment protocol development and analysis, as well as the performance of sophisticated laboratory techniques. There is also an opportunity for eligible fellows to obtain a masters degree in Clinical Research through the School of Public Health.

Our program will accept applications only through ERAS and offer positions through the Match.  Once your completed application has been reviewed, we will contact you regarding its status and the possibility of a visit to our institution for interviews with the program's faculty. Please note that the deadline for receipt of the completed application is February 15, 2009.

In order for us to begin the process of considering you for fellowship training, please send the information listed to:
