Dr. Klein is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. He received his M.D. from the University of Iowa in 2000, and subsequently completed his internal medicine residency training at the University of Minnesota in 2003. In 2006, he completed his fellowship training in hematology and oncology at the University of Minnesota. He continued his research training for another year in the laboratories of Robert Kratzke, M.D. and Kevin Mayo, Ph.D.
Currently, his research interests focus around drug discovery targeting protein-protein interactions. One of his projects uses multiple modalities to discover peptidomimetic compounds that mimic the activity of the tumor suppressor protein p16ink4a. He is also involved in a project targeting hyaluronan-cellular interactions.
