Dr. Morton graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1992. Her internship in internal medicine and general surgery was also carried out at the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School, finishing in 1996. She then undertook a categorical internal medicine residency at the University of Minnesota 1996-1998. Dr. Morton was a fellow in Hematology/Oncology, also at the University of Minnesota, from 1998-2003.
Dr. Morton is Board certified in Internal Medicine (1999) and Oncology (2002). She is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
