Arne Slungaard, M.D.
 Area of Expertise: Research in inflammation
Dr. Slungaard is a Professor of Medicine. He received his B.A. from Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota and his M.D., residency, and Hematology and Oncology subspecialty training at the University of Minnesota. He joined the faculty in 1984.
His clinical interest is in bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell transplantation. His research interests are 1) the biology and pathology of eosinophil peroxidase-mediated oxidant tissue damage; and 2) interactions of cationic proteins such as platelet factor 4 with the thrombomodulin/ protein C natural anticoagulant system. He is the coordinator of Grand Rounds for the section of Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation.
