Dr. Li Ding received her MD from Peking Union Medical College (Bejing, China) in 1997.From 1997 to 2000 she was in residency training in the Department of Internal Medicine at Peking Union Medical College Hospital.Prior to starting her US residency Dr. Ding spent four years in cancer research as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Florida.She worked on studies exploring the role of growth factors, cytokines and ovarian steroid in human reproductive tract tissue and tumor cells, as well as studies elucidating the molecular mechanism of PKC-epsilon regulating chemotherapeutic drug sensitivity in human lung cancer cells.Dr. Ding then pursued further residency in Internal Medicine at Sinai-Grace Hospital/Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.During residency she worked in the laboratory of Sami Malek, MD, where she worked on studies that determined the cell kill properties of Chrome compound on AML cells and explored ATM and Akt pathways in CLL cells.Dr. Ding entered the fellowship program in Hematology, Oncology and Transplantation at the University of Minnesota in 2009.
