Priya Kumar MD


Dr. Kumar

Dr. Priya Kumar received her MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) at Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India in 1993.  She completed a rotating internship in Medicine and Subspecialties and was Senior House Officer in Medicine at the same institution from 1993-1995.  Subsequently Dr. Kumar completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Upstate Medical University, SUNY-Syracuse.  She was then a staff/attending physician in Internal Medicine at Southern West Virginia Clinic operated by Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) from 1999-2003.  In 2003 she began a fellowship in Hematology, Oncology and Transplantation at the University of Minnesota.  She also pursued a Masters in Public Health with a thesis project entitled “Outcomes of Stem Cell Transplantation for Adult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: The University of Minnesota Experience,” mentored by Dr. Linda Burns.  Dr. Kumar is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.  In Fall 2006 Dr. Kumar joined the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Transplantation as an Assistant Professor.
