The Deborah E. Powell Center for Women’s HealthDOMHOT Faculty Lou12 GIF awarded Emil Lou, MD, PhD a seed grant to support his research into the development of chemotherapy resistance in ovarian cancer. Dr. Lou and his team will study how tunneling nanotubes—long, thin structures that serve as “skyways” for cellular communication—enable the cells within a tumor to coordinate their activity to promote tumor formation, invasiveness, and resistance to chemotherapy. Dr. Lou’s research proposal was selected by the Powell Center because it clearly supports the foundation’s mission of improving the health of women and their families. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Lou on this achievement.  02/27/13
