Marketa Markova MD
Marketa Markova, M.D. was a visiting scholar from the Czech Republic studying at the University of Minnesota on a Fulbright Scholarship. While a medical student she participated in a fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota (1992). She received her M.D. with honors from the Charles University, Prague in 1993. Her residency experience was in Internal Medicine and Hematology and she has taken specialization exams in both areas. She is currently on faculty at the Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, Prague.
Dr. Markova’s grant-supported research in the Czech Republic concerns “hemostasis, fibrinolysis and cytoadhesive molecules in diabetes mellitus.” During her stay at the University of Minnesota she worked in the laboratory of Dr. Nigel Key studying intravascular tissue factor in bone marrow transplant patients.
