displays take you back to 1950 - 1967 at the University of Minnesota.
"This was an unprecedented period of research, discovery, clinical
testing, many successes, some failures, all in all, one of the most
concentrated periods of productive efforts in the history of human
medicine. This, in an attempt to safely and reproducibly enter, repair,
and exit the diseased human heart. Cross-circulation, the bubble oxygenator
and a safe heart-lung machine, many surgical firsts, all emanated
from the research labs and operating rooms at the University of Minnesota.
Walt Lillehei was the catalyst for all this invention and progress."
