| The Lillehei Scholars Program supports the mission of the Lillehei
Heart Institute by its funding of cardiovascular and respiratory research fellowships
and grants
to University of Minnesota faculty and students, as well as funding newly recruited faculty. Each year a Request for Applications
(RFA) is announced throughout the University and on this web site. Application
deadline is April 15, with the selection of award recipients by the LHI
Scientific Advisory Committee for July 1 activation. Check with LHI's Admin Director for current status.
There is only one general application form for the fellowship applications,
except for the Undergraduate Research Opportunity (UROP), which uses the UROP
application and review process, as LHI provides only the funding for this award.
The application process for the two research grant categories differs; the
general application form is used for the Pilot Research Grant application,
while the Grant Revision Award application is a copy of a previously submitted,
non-funded, but favorably peer-reviewed national grant proposal.
Listed below are the various categories of awards:
- Dean's Faculty Recruit
- Postdoctoral Fellowship
- Predoctoral Fellowship
- Medical Student Research Award
- Undergraduate Research Opportunity
- Pilot Research Grant
