Department of Medicine, Cardiovascular Division
Dean's Faculty Recruit

Assistant professor in Medicine/Cardiology with joint appointment as graduate faculty in Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology (MICaB).

Major Research Interests/Experience:
Understanding the adaptive metabolic signaling cascades in response to diabetes and the impact of alterations in gene expression and metabolic flux on the prevalence of macro-vascular pathology in the vasculature.
Identifying the role of the highly conserved Wnt/b-catenin signaling pathway in vascular smooth muscle cell migration, fate, growth, and differentiation.
Determining the regulation of redox-sensitive transcription factors in response to diabetes and hypoxia/ischemia and defining the role of these transcription factors in mediating vascular endothelial inflammation, cell fate, and vascular remodeling.
Defining the differential gene expression in the neointima vs. medial vascular smooth muscle cell populations and determining how this may drive phenotypic alterations, cell fate and vascular remodeling.
