Carmelo Panetta, M.D.

Dr. Panetta is from California, where he received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He went on to University of Texas, Galveston for medical school and to Mt. Sinai Medical Center for residency in internal medicine and a year in molecular medicine. He went on to a cardiology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. After a year in private practice in Monterey California, he returned to academics and spent two years at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester in research and interventional cardiology.

During his time in Rochester, Dr. Panetta became interested in gene delivery via catheter based techniques. Dr. Panetta started in July here at the University of Minnesota, and is focusing in interventional cardiology and stem cell research working with Dr. Jay Zhang.

He is married to his college sweetheart and lives in St. Paul with their two children.
