Department of Pharmacology
Pilot Research Grant
"Illuminating the Spatial Organization of Phosphoinositide Signaling in Endothelial Cells"

Dr. Marchant's laboratory is interested in resolving the behavior of intracellular Ca2+ channels in cell physiology and pathophysiology, with a special focus on the genesis of local Ca2+ release events. This area of research is especially relevant to cardiovascular physiology, as the interplay between different intracellular Ca2+ signaling mechanisms plays an essential role in the functioning of cardiac muscle, vascular smooth muscle as well as endothelial cell functions. Further details about these research interests can be found at the laboratory home page at http://www.tc.umn.edu/~march29.
