"Using Gene Expression Microarrays to Study Airway Fibrosis in the Mouse
Model of Chronic Rejection"
Mentors: Richard A. King, M.D., Marshall I. Hertz, M.D.
After brief stints as a youngster in Pittsburgh, PA and Syracuse, NY, Jeff
Lande moved to Minnesota, where he spent many of his formative years. After
4 years at the University of Wisconsin, where he earned a BS in Mathematics
and Economics, he moved back to Minnesota and earned an MS degree in Statistics.
He spent three years at Hennepin County Medical Center as a statistician and
another three years as a database analyst at West Group before returning to
the University of Minnesota to pursue a PhD in Molecular, Cellular, Developmental
Biology and Genetics.
Jeff has had the privilege of being mentored by Richard King and Marshall
Hertz, while learning how to apply microarray technology to better understand
acute and chronic rejection events following lung transplantation.
Outside of science, Jeff enjoys spending time working on his house with his
wife Jennifer, playing volleyball and Scrabble and occasionally playing guitar
in a band that originated many years ago while he was at HCMC.
