Sean Polster is a third year undergraduate student in the College of Biological Sciences double majoring in Genetics, Cell Biology and Development and Physiology with a minor in Chemistry. Sean plans to attend medical school and has research interests in vascular biology and transplant medicine.

Currently he is working on a research project under Dr. Jennifer Hall on genetic remolding of the heart via a gene named Sprouty-1 in conjunction with patients under support from Left Ventricular Assists Devices. Sean will be completing his honors thesis by identifying genes and pathways that alter the process of angiogenesis and arteriogenesis and by defining the role of such genes with genetic, cell, and pharmacological based approaches. Sean has also taken his second summer research stint at the University of Wisconsin- Madison to further work on Immunological aspects of transplantation.

Outside of the lab, Sean enjoys playing hockey and racquetball and is very interested in avionics.
