Scientific Advisory Committee


Chair: Peter Bitterman, Research Director.
Co Chair: Bob Bache, Myocardial Biology Program Leader.

Committee: Ten members and chair appointed for three-year terms.
Governance: Director of Research.
Board Meetings: Monthly to Bi-monthly.

Mission:
a) Help develop the core areas of emphasis and focus and scientific goals of the Institute.
b) Advise and participate in the recruitment of new faculty in concert with the agreed upon areas of focus for the LHI and available funds.
c) Recommend to the Board for approval the allocation of annual research funds to new and current research faculty for salary support, personnel, and equipment.
d) Review the accomplishments and plans of the research faculty annually, and assist in identification of new or additional sources of funding for all projects.
e) Advocate for extramural and legislative financial support for the LHI.
f) Advise on ethical issues in Cardiovascular and Respiratory research.
g) Advise/refer conflict of interest in research sponsored by industry.
